The steam wand on your Sage isn’t working
Weak or no steam is most often because the holes in the tip of the steam wand are blocked by milk or scale. You can usually fix that yourself.
What you can check yourself
- Clear the holes in the steam tip with the small pin on the cleaning tool that came with the machine.
- Unscrew the tip (with the spanner on the cleaning tool on most models) and soak it in warm water.
- Wipe the steam wand and purge it with steam for a few seconds after every use, so milk doesn’t dry on.
- Descale the machine. Scale in the steam path gives weak steam.
- Give the machine time. After an espresso it takes a moment before it is ready to steam.
Tip: Unplug the machine before you clean it or take parts off. If it needs opening, leave that to us.

Scale in pipes and valves inside the machine.
Faulty valve
The solenoid valve or steam valve doesn’t open properly.
Temperature sensor
On the Barista Touch, Oracle and Bambino Plus, a sensor controls automatic milk texturing.
When does it need repairing?
If there is still no steam after cleaning and descaling, it is a valve or a sensor inside the machine, and it needs repairing.

Why doesn’t the milk get hot on my Barista Touch?
Automatic texturing is controlled by a temperature sensor in the steam wand. Clean it well. If that doesn’t help, the sensor may be faulty.
